Nº 02 Portuguese Nationality
02 / 07 — Fire Horse

Portuguese nationality is rarely just a paperwork exercise. It can involve family history, residency, marriage, civil partnership, children, grandchildren, naturalisation, civil registry records, foreign documentation, translations, certifications and administrative deadlines.

Fire Horse coordinates the process end to end: assessing the client’s situation, identifying the documents required, liaising with registries and competent authorities within the applicable legal framework, and ensuring each step fits the client’s broader personal, family or wealth plan.

The goal is to avoid fragmentation, reduce uncertainty, and keep the client supported by a single point of contact.

02
In detail

What this really involves.

Portuguese Nationality

Being entitled to Portuguese nationality and being able to prove it are two different things. In practice, most of the process is documentary: birth and marriage certificates, registry records, foreign documents needing certified translation, apostille and, often, correcting names and dates that don't match across countries.

Each route — attribution by descent, acquisition through marriage or civil partnership, naturalisation — has its own requirements, deadlines and evidence. Choosing the right route from the start avoids gathering documents that later don’t qualify and reduces the risk of refusal over formalities.

Nationality also doesn't end at the citizen card: a new tax and wealth framework comes into play, residence rights for the family and, in some cases, obligations worth anticipating. Fire Horse handles the process with that horizon in mind, not just the isolated application.
